During World War II Army Chaplain, Father Mark Otto served his country and his fellow men on the battlefield. While administering the sacraments to the wounded and dying men, he fervently prayed to St. Therese that his life would be spared and that he would come home to Minnesota safely.
St. Therese heard his prayers, and he returned home in 1946, establishing a new parish in Deephaven, Mn. Fr. Otto chose St. Therese as the patron saint of his parish.
