In Western Iowa, Corn Belt Telephone has been connecting fellow Iowans since the early 1900’s. The union of the City’s ‘Wall Lake Switching’ and Rural ‘Wall Lake Telephone’ in 1961, enabled Corn Belt Telephone to help their communities reach each other and all of America.

Corn Belt Telephone sought a way to not just connect their community, but bring it better Telecommunications and fast, reliable Broadband connections. In joining forces with Iowa Network Services, (an assembly of Independent Telephone Companies in Iowa, fighting to provide centralized equal access services throughout the state), Corn Belt Telephone found a way to bring dependable Voice and Data Services to their communities, from a centralized solution of local Telephone Companies just like them.

Enabled by a statewide Fiber Optic network, Corn Belt Telephone improved archaic copper systems in Wall Lake and Carnarvon by laying Fiber Optics, formed a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) to expand and service the city of Lake View and built new solutions to the Rural Broadband connectivity obstacle, and continue to today. Corn Belt Telephone’s efforts resulted in constructing a NTCA Gig Certified Fiber Optic Network in Wall Lake and Carnarvon that has revolutionized Data Solutions in this community.

By providing additional High Speed Internet solutions to rural, hard to reach areas with Point to Point Fixed Wireless Internet, Corn Belt Telephone was able to determine a need and desire in those places for better Broadband. Corn Belt Telephone’s mission is to continue to help their fellow Iowans connect in quality ways that align with both their needs and the century that we live in, and to do so in a way that is local and supports the very communities that Corn Belt Telephone serves.
