When visiting the Ellis County Sheriff's Office or Ellis County Jail, park in the South parking lot off West 12th Street. Most residents identify the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) as being located "in back of the Hays Public Library". Once parked, walk through the only double doors located on the South side of the LEC and hang an immediate right where you'll find a receptionist's window. Ring the doorbell for assistance.
After normal business hours (8a-5p), the double doors located on the South side of the LEC are locked. Visitors should contact Hays Dispatch; 785-625-1040 (for sheriff patrol issues) or Jail Control; 785-625-1050 (for jail / inmate issues) by cell phone for a deputy/jailer to meet them at the South side LEC double doors.
