Leitersburg Vol. Fire Company was formed in 1956 by the Leitersburg Ruritan Club due to the lack of hydrants and the nearest fire company being six miles away. Originally known as Leitersburg Ruritan Fire Company, we began with one used fire truck purchased from Blue Ridge Summit Fire Co. which was temporarily housed in a rented garage on what is now known as Leiter Street. Being a all volunteer organization means that most of us live in the area we serve. Like you, we have families and careers, kids who attend local schools and churches. One thing that hasn't changed in the years since our founding, is the concern and caring available only from an organization that is truly connected to the citizens we serve.
