VitalStim Therapy
VitalStim Therapy restores the swallowing function to patients with Oropharyngeal Dysphagia caused by stroke or brain injuries. VitalStim Therapy is performed by passing a small current through specially designed electrodes placed on the neck. The electricity stimulates inactive or atrophied swallowing muscles. The AssistedCare Speech Therapists utilizes Vitalstim Therapy to help re-educate the muscles.

Medical Social Services
We provide medical social work services according to the plan of care set for each patient. We offer support and education for patients and their loved ones to help them understand and accept the impact of short or long-term illness and/or disability on a family.

Whether you or a loved one desires services once a week for three hours or continuous care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, AssistedCare is the answer to those needs. AssistedCare can provide services at home, at an Independent or Assisted Living Residence, in a Skilled Nursing Facility or in a Hospital. AssistedCare professional caregivers are licensed or certified by the state of North Carolina if appropriate for their position and are supervised by a Registerd Nurse (RN).

AssistedCare is proud to serve private pay community and North Carolina Medicaid recipients through the Community Alternative Programs for Disabled Adults & Children (CAP-DA, CAP-C) as well as In-Home Care for Adults and Children (IHCA, IHCC).

Private Duty Nursing (PDN):
PDN is medically necessary continuous, substantial and complex nursing services provided by a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) in the patient’s home. Private Duty Nursing is a benefit covered by NC Medicaid and some private insurance.
