A great battle fought by The Woods at Cedar Run!
Another successful Battle of the Bells is in the books. And the winner of the 2017 BOTB competition is...Smith Land & Improvement Corporation with a total of $10,708.89! With a matching gift incentive, Smith Land also engaged friends such as Pyramid Construction Services, Inc., HB McClure Co., and the West Shore Plaza in their bell ringing and desktop kettle drive to bring home the crown. Congrats Smith Land! Our friends at The Woods at Cedar Run came in 2nd place with $9,345 from bell ringing, sub sales and a Jeans to Work donation from corporate! Our own Salvation Army church members came in 3rd place, and the most significant jump came from the Deeter Gallaher Group LLC and their support base of celebrities including Ben Gallaher, Graham Hetrick and Valerie Pritchett! And rounding out the Top 5 is Linglestown Life United Methodist Church, who had some of the most consistently best kettle totals all season long and engaged the most people - 75 volunteers for 8 full day shifts! A few special mentions - Kiwanis Club of Hershey-Hummelstown took home Best Service Club honors; Centric Bank was the best BOTB newcomer; WIN Women INVOLVED placed the most desktop kettles around town (14); and the staff of The Salvation Army raised the most money through online Red Kettles. THANK YOU to all who participated. Together, we raised $44,500.46. In total, our Harrisburg area Red Kettle campaign was almost at the $200,000 mark, a 5% increase over last year, which defies the national trend of declining Red Kettle income.
