The Rome Symphony Orchestra (RSO) has been a vital part of the musical culture of the greater Rome community since its beginning in 1921. As the "oldest symphony in the South," the RSO continues to be a notable leader in the regional arts community by virtue of the outstanding leadership of the Board, the orchestra's fine musicians, and the support of the community.
Comprised of professional musicians, and led by artistic director and conductor Jeffrey Dokken, the RSO offers an exciting repertoire of outstanding musical programming. Through its many educational and outreach programs, the RSO strives to be an active participant in the regional business community and learning institutions.
In collaboration with local colleges, the RSO has an active student intern program for Music Business and Music Education degree fields.
The RSO serves greater Northwest Georgia and relies on the support of the City of Rome, and other sponsors, foundations, donations, ticket sales, and special fund-raising events.
