An electric cooperative is an organization that is owned by the members it serves. Its purpose is to provide low-cost, reliable energy to its members. South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative, Inc., was established in 1940 to meet this need. The cooperative is governed by the bylaws in its Articles of Incorporation.

In order to receive electric service, a new customer must first pay a fee to become a member/owner of the cooperative. When a customer disconnects service with the cooperative, his or her membership fee is either applied to the outstanding balance or refunded.

Cooperative members elect representatives each year to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is responsible for governing the organization's operations and setting policies.


South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative created this Facebook page to communicate to members about known outages, tips for utilization, or other helpful information about power as we become aware of it. We encourage your feedback on the page, but within the following guidelines:

• Keep it clean! Foul or offensive language will not be permitted.
• Keep it safe! Do not include any personal or account information in your posts. You have no idea who will see this information.
• No threats allowed -- to South Central employees or members!
• Knowingly posting inaccurate information is not allowed. Not everything you read on the internet is true, but we want to keep the information on our Facebook page as relevant as possible.
• Post information one time only! Otherwise, we’ll consider it SPAM and remove it.

Any posts not following these guidelines are subject to deletion. Facebook is a great way for us to reach our members with important information.
