Fidalgo Animal Medical Center of Anacortes

Fidalgo Animal Medical Center was founded in 1978 by Dr. Robert Bjerk who after a few years had Dr. Bill Testerman join him as a partner. In 2005, Dr. Ian Marshall and his wife Dr. Pauli Bezzola purchased the clinic and today continue to provide veterinary care for the small animals of Anacortes and its surrounding areas. Fidalgo Animal Medical was opened with the understanding that pets are part of the family and that they deserve the best medical care possible. We continue to work with that philosophy today. Our clinic has 3 veterinarians and a fully trained support staff, including three Licensed Veterinary Technicians, which are the RN’s of veterinary medicine. We advocate client education, quality medicine, community support and the bond between humans and their pets. Wellness Care and Immunizations:
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; spay and neuter procedures, puppy and kitten packages and specialized blood tests for all life stages.

In House Laboratory:
We have complete in house laboratory testing capabilities including hematology, serum chemistries, urinalysis, and electrolytes. This allows us to be able to rapidly diagnose disease, screen patients prior to anesthesia and run emergency bloodwork.

Dental Care:
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup.
We also have digital dental radiography.

Fully Stocked Pharmacy:
We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field.

Internal Medicine:
We cover all areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Orthopedic surgery; Oncology; Endocrinology; among others.

Microchipping:
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer HomeAgain microchip implantation and services.

Nutritional Counseling:
Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active. We have a wide selection of prescription diet to keep your pet happy and healthy.

Pain Management:
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care.

Radiology:
Radiology - or X-rays - helps our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.

Surgery:
We offer advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: surgeon available for consultation; fully trained veterinary and technical staff to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG, respiration, blood pressure and oxygen saturation monitors and full blood testing.

Behavioral Medicine:
Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We can help determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen for the patient.
