In 1993, Juma became the first nonprofit organization to own and operate a commercial franchise—a single Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Shop that provided a handful of jobs for homeless youth. Since then, Juma has grown from a job-training and placement program serving 25 homeless youth to a nationally-recognized youth development program operating in six cities (Atlanta, Houston, Sacramento, San Francisco/Bay Area, Santa Clara and Seattle).
Juma has helped more than 7,200 low-income students earn $ million in wages and save more than $6 million toward higher education.
