Bridge House is one of hundreds of clubhouses world-wide. While Bridge House is the first clubhouse in Fairfield County, it was modeled after Fountain House, the very first recovery-centered clubhouse. Fountain House was founded in the 1940's in New York City as an outgrowth of a movement known as We Are Not Alone. The clubhouse model became an international movement that believed in recovery for people with psychiatric disabilities.
