ArtSpace Charter School is a tuition-free public school offering a creative, arts-integrated approach to a complete education. The school offers a complete education through integrated curricula based on the visual and performing arts, utilizing an experiential approach. We believe in a family oriented, cooperative approach to education that encourages parental involvement and community relationships to nurture responsive citizenship.
At ArtSpace Charter School students learn core content subjects (math, language arts, science and social studies) through the arts (dance, drama, music, visual art and technology). Academic skills and concepts are applied and experienced in artistic contexts. Arts Integration allows students to explore their acquired knowledge and skills, while providing teachers the opportunity to authentically assess student learning.
ArtSpace is a partner of A+ Schools of North Carolina. The national A+ Schools program is the largest, longest running, and most successful arts-based whole-school reform effort in our country. NC A+ Schools is a network of forty-one schools throughout the state. Since 1995, A+ Schools has been using the arts as a catalyst for creating connections and making schools engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable places to teach and learn. The A+ Program has been recognized for its excellence nationally and internationally by figures such as President Bill Clinton, education reformer Sir Ken Robinson, and President Obama’s “President’s Commission on the Arts and Humanities.”
