This home was designed with an open plan based on 45 degree angles, providing privacy while capturing the ocean view corridor framed by Lanai and Molokai and accommodating frequent get-togethers of a large extended family. The renovation of these educational spaces created a flexible and interactive learning environment for both the students and the staff. Interior staff offices, now located within the student spaces, feature movable office systems and many informal conference spaces. Wheels on sofas, chairs, tables, and whiteboards combine with contemporary furniture, bright accent paints and patterns to create a friendly environment. Open computer work stations, free hard wire and Wifi data and power outlets have greatly updated technology access for all students. The exterior courtyard was connected to the interior spaces by removing earth berms and solid exterior walls, adding large windows and lanai sitting areas to capture Diamond Head views. Gathering areas also include an amphitheater for large groups and additional concrete tables and chairs welcome students to take a break.
