Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corp

The Codman Square NDC was established in 1981 to address the prevalent blight in the general vicinity. Over the years, it has been a major catalyst for the revitalization of the Codman Square commercial district. Its development and rehabilitation of affordable rental housing has been a key factor in the stabilization of major corridors within the greater Codman Square/Four Corners area.
The Codman Square NDC develops affordable housing opportunities for both renters and homeowners. We work with low and moderate income individuals to provide foreclosure prevention counseling, financial fitness services, support homeownership development, and make loans and technical assistance available to make property improvements. We develop commercial space and provide technical assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Through our community building initiative, our Community Organizing and Resident Resources department(CORR)works to engage and develop community leadership among residents in NDC owned properties and in the broader community. As part of this leadership development work, we administer the Smart and Talented Adolescents Reaching for Success (STARS) youth program to develop the young leadership in our neighborhoods. The STARS program provides after school homework assistance and tutoring to youth ages 1-12 and a community-focused leadership class for youth 13-18. The program incorporates reading skills enhancement activities as well as extracurricular opportunities to expand world view and opportunities beyond the local area for young people.
