WLC Company, Sedalia, Indiana, was founded by Herman Dwight (Tiny) Wilson along with three other family members in 1936. They named the business The Company, a combination of their last names (Wilson, Lefter and Crum). The initial goals of the company were to provide jobs for local residents during the Depression, and to manufacture hog and poultry feeders and brooder houses at a reasonable price. In the 1950's, WLC Company began producing prefabricated houses for migrant workers.
Starting in the 1970's, the company began to focus more on equipment for the hog confinement industry to better meet the needs of the local area. The company had been servicing the small family farm which no longer described the farming industry. In 1976 when Tiny became ill, his son, Phil Wilson took over the management of the family business. At this time, the company was incorporated and there became two divisions: manufacturing and distribution.
In 1986. WLC Company Inc. sold its factory and became solely a distributor of agricultural products, high pressure washing equipment and industrial supplies.
Due to Phil Wilson's death in 2011, the company hired Ron Smith, a long time customer of WLC. He currently serves as President/Manager of the company. WLC Company, Inc. currently competes in the agricultural and industrial markets with equipment lines such as: Schaefer Ventilation Equipment, AP/The GSI Group, Chore-Time/Brock, Mi-T-M, PT Coupling, and Goodyear.
