An Austin tradition since 1988, Eastside Cafe serves garden-fresh comfort food using herbs and vegetables from its own garden. The restaurant is housed in an East Austin bungalow, and specializes in dishes that are seasonal, fresh, and often vegetarian-friendly.
Eastside Cafe opened in 1988 as one of the first restaurants on Manor Road, now a bustling restaurant row with more than a dozen local cafes, taco joints, coffee shops, and pubs. Eastside was also a pioneer in the urban farming movement, using herbs and vegetables from the garden on its property. Beloved by Austinites and visitors alike, Eastside Cafe serves brunch, lunch, and dinner with rotating chef's specials complementing the menu. Nearly everything at Eastside Cafe is made from scratch, including the restaurant’s famous feta salad dressing, jalapeno cornbread muffins, seasonal soups, and daily specials. Many items are vegetarian-friendly, and there is also a gluten-free menu.
Located in a cozy cottage right next door, Elaine’s, named for owner/chef Elaine Martin, serves homemade pies, pulled pork sandwiches, gourmet coffee drinks, wine, and more. On weekdays, lunch is served until 3 p.m. and dinner is served until close. On weekends, brunch is served until 3 p.m. and lunch and dinner are served until closing.
