The Sacatar Foundation is a California-based 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to:
Provide residencies for seasoned and emerging artists to create new work;
Promote cross-cultural interaction and collaboration among the participating artists and the local communities;
Support artists in the creation of work that inspires across class and national boundaries.
Sacatar fulfills its mission through the Instituto Sacatar, an artist community located on an oceanside historic estate on the island of Itaparica near Salvador, Bahia, and through partnerships with educational and cultural institutions throughout the world.
