Girls Inc of Monroe County

Girls Inc. has been inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold in Monroe County for nearly 40 years. We provide low-cost, intentional, and compensatory programming to girls in the community. As an affiliate of a national organization, we are able to implement excellent nationally researched programs that fulfill our mission.

The goals and objectives of the organization continue to be grounded in the Girls Inc. Bill of Rights, which states that girls have a right to be themselves, to express themselves with originality and enthusiasm, to strive freely and take pride in success, to accept and appreciate their bodies, to prepare for interesting work and economic independence, and to have confidence in themselves and be safe in the world.

At the core of our mission is the belief that all children, regardless of socio-economic class or gender, have the right to have opportunities to grow and prosper, including earning a quality education (both formally and informally), preparing for interesting work and becoming economically literate, and making safe and healthy life choices.

We offer after school programming, organized sports, and summer/winter camps. Girls Inc. of Monroe County serves nearly 550 girls in Monroe County through such afterschool programs as economic literacy, preventing adolescent pregnancy, and media awareness. We also provide organized sports leagues - volleyball and basketball.
