CALL TO ACTION FOLLOWUP Animal Services is tasked with providing services to all Brevard County residents, not just pet owners. Therefore all Brevard County residents should share the cost of funding Animal Services.

CALL TO ACTION It has come to our attention that on Tuesday the Brevard County Commission will consider a proposal to REQUIRE veterinarians to add a Registration Tag fee (currently $10 to $16) to the cost of every rabies vaccination. If a client refuses to pay the fee (really a tax), then the veterinarian will be REQUIRED to turn the client in to Animal Services. Failure to comply will result in the veterinarian being charged $500 and a mandatory court for every week they are in violation. We oppose this license tax because it is only paid by responsible pet owners. It punishes them while not affecting irresponsible pet owners who do not vaccinate their pets. Furthermore, it will actually discourage owners from vaccinating their pets against rabies by increasing the cost. We are asking you to contact your county commissioner and them them how you feel. The link below will take you to a map so you can locate your district. Click on your district to see who your commissioner is and their contact information. Thank you.
