Leading into Valentine's Day, we're all seeing the candy and ads for gifts and flowers, and hearing more romantic music on the radio. In Aerosmith's - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, the first line is: "I could stay awake just to hear you breathing...." How true that most of what we cherish, is what we see and hear. Whether it's your Dad saying he's proud of you, your Mom telling you stories about when you were a child, your partner saying they love you, or a child telling you about their adventures or sharing their dreams, we don't want you to miss a thing, either. Not on Valentine's Day or any other day. Fifteen minutes, pain free (and we have candy if you're brave....) Let us help you make sure you don't miss a thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss0kFNUP4P4

Researchers have identified an inner ear deficiency in children with Autism that may impact their ability to recognize speech. The findings, which were published in the journal Autism Research, could ultimately be used as a way to identify children at risk for the disorder at an early age. "This study identifies a simple, safe, and non-invasive method to screen young children for hearing deficits that are associated with Autism," said Anne Luebke, Ph.D., an associate professor in the University of Rochester Medical Center Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience and a co-author of the study. "This technique may provide clinicians a new window into the disorder and enable us to intervene earlier and help achieve optimal outcomes." http://www.audiologyonline.com/releases/hearing-test-may-identify-autism-17901

"Wingfield—along with Jonathan Peelle from the Department of Otolaryngology at Washington University in St. Louis—recently published a paper in the July 2016 issue of Trends in Neurosciences exploring the neural consequences of untreated age-related hearing loss. In the paper, they explain that although compensation of hearing loss by other areas of the brain can result in successful comprehension, it is not without consequence for further operations, such as memory." http://www.hearingreview.com/2016/09/world-alzheimers-month-hearing-loss-linked-impaired-memory/
