Bethany Lutheran Church began in 1895 at the request of young Swedish girls in the area seeking a place to worship according to their Swedish traditions. This heritage brought with it a strong sense that we are all Children of God. With over 100 years of history, Bethany remains a faithful and vibrant congregation. Bethany is host to weekly Bible Studies, weekly book studies, book clubs, interest groups, community groups and more. There are 13 church or community groups who call Bethany home. Some of these groups are ecumenical such as the Emergent Christianity group and one of the book clubs. We worship out of the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book, which is a liturgy based does that mean? We sing hymns, hear readings from Scripture and celebrate communion each week in an ordered way. We are currently using the Narrative Lectionary, which has allowed us to really be creative with worship. Bethany functions under the faithful service of our council and teams. We have a full-time pastor who serves the congregation. We are proud members of the ELCA and Upstate NY Synod under the leadership of Bishop John Macholz and Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton. Questions? Check out our website or give us a call. Want to stop in for worship? We would love to welcome you. Worship during the fall, winter and spring is at 10:45am. Worship in the summer is at 10am.
