Houghton Chemical is a fourth generation family business founded in 1927. We manufacture and distribute antifreeze, heat transfer fluids, and water treatment chemicals. Our total glycol solutions include the manufacture of concentrate / premix inhibited glycol, glycol removal, and glycol analysis. Our customers receive proprietary inhibited propylene (SAFE-T-THERM®), inhibited ethylene (WINTREX®), biobased, and aluminum-safe glycols. We also formulate geothermal (GeoSafe®) products. Our customers benefit from customized product concentration, color, package size, and delivery options.
Houghton Chemical formulates antifreeze primarily with ethylene glycol, though we use other glycols when preference dictates. We manufacture various formulations, from conventional to extended life heavy duty. Our staff, which includes a Fellow on the ASTM Board, provides excellent technical support. We custom blend and offer private label services.
Houghton’s combined facilities provide a powerhouse of package / blending and storage capacity. We have strategically located facilities through out the country. Our services are accompanied by a bulk fleet. We ship nationally and internationally.
