Did you know that more dogs are lost on 4th of July than any other day of the year? Read below to keep your dog safe this holiday weekend. - Leave your dog at home. Fireworks displays are fun for people but not for dogs. - Keep Fido indoors during fireworks - give him a safe place to hide like under a bed or in a crate. - Never leave your dog unattended while outdoors - even in a secure yard. - Make sure if your dog does get lost you have increased their chances of returning home - microchip, tag and carry an up to date photo. - Playing the T.V. or music can drown out the fireworks; - Try not to coddle (we know, it's hard) because it reinforces their fear. Instead play games to keep them busy. - Dogs who are very nervous or scared may bite out of fear - watch for signs that this may occur with your own dog and never approach a dog you don't know especially during fireworks.
