The academy was originally founded to serve deaf students throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex. As an open-enrollment charter school, JMA now serves 200 students, approximately 10% of which are deaf or hard of hearing. English is the primary language of instruction with American Sign Language provided for the deaf population and as second language acquisition for hearing students. JMA is proud to provide small class sizes, highly qualified teachers, and individualized education through bilingual / bicultural communication.
