A message from Bernard Douthit, Owner and Center Director

Mathnasium is a Math-only Learning Center located in the heart of Denver. As the Owner and Director, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family. We are here to support you. While we teach math, we also passionately believe that we are helping children and adults become agile and imaginative problem solvers.

Being the father of a 4th grader at Bill Roberts Elementary, and a 6th grader at DSST, I know firsthand the challenges that parents face with homework and education for their kids in general. I also know the premium that Denver families place on education, and we’ve already seen a tremendous response from our community.

Since our Grand Opening in early February, we already have students from over 15 different schools including: Bill Roberts Elementary, Bromwell Elementary, Christ the King Catholic School, Denver Jewish Day School, East High School, George Washington High School, Good Shepherd Catholic School, Graland Country Day School, Hill Middle School, The Logan School, Montessori Children’s House of Denver, Morey Middle School, Mullen High School, Stanley British Primary, Steck Elementary, The Waldorf School.

After receiving my Master’s Degree from and spending over 20 years in information technology, I am excited to open the first Mathnasium Center in central Denver. Using a time-tested method and drawing upon over 12,000 pages of proprietary curriculum that has been developed over 30 years, we believe we teach math better than anybody else. I am committed to helping your children join the thousands of students at over 220 centers who have had success in catching up or getting ahead in math.

Mathnasium is not just for kids who love Math. If your child is math-phobic, I have something important to share with you: Kids don’t hate math, they just hate being frustrated and intimidated by math. You will see a huge change in your child’s attitude toward the subject once math starts to make sense to them. Many Mathnasium parents see a significant change in as little as one to two months after enrolling.

Whether your child needs a little catch-up help or is not challenged enough in his or her math class, our highly specialized Math Instructors will create an individually customized math learning plan for your child’s success. We think we combine some good old-fashioned rigor with a little bit of fun in an environment that seems more like a community center than a library or classroom.

Mathnasium is not a group class. We strongly believe students learn best in what some call a “guided discovery” environment. Our students work with instructors face-to-face, and receive one-on-one instruction in a small group environment, usually two to three students per group. This keeps tuition affordable while also providing students with individualized attention that is a key ingredient to the Mathnasium Method. Per session cost starts as low as $22/hour depending on grade level, term commitment and the frequency of visits.
