Valley Ambulance Authority

5
Valley Ambulance Authority was established in 1972 as the first municipal ambulance authority in the United States. VAA provides EMS and medical transportation services to Moon Township, Coraopolis Borough, Crescent Township and Neville Island. VAA also provides service to certain parts of the Pittsburgh International Airport.

VAA also served the residents of Findlay Township from August, 2002 - December 31, 2016.

The governing body of each member municipality appoints representatives to the Board of Directors, who oversee the operations of Valley Ambulance Authority.

What began as a primarily volunteer emergency service has developed into a highly technical EMS and medical transportation system staffed by more than seventy (70) dedicated professional paramedics, emergency medical technicians, dispatchers and office personnel.

The combined fleet of emergency vehicles include seven (7) mobile intensive care units (ambulances), four (4) special service / wheelchair vans and a paramedic / supervisor response vehicle.

All VAA Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians are certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and attend rigorous continuing education classes throughout the year. VAA responds to every emergency call with an ALS (Advanced Life Support) crew consisting of at least one Paramedic and an Emergency Medical Technician.
