Happy New Year!

I posted a new photo to Facebook fb.me/71P9bcWhT

Aaron and I would like to thank you all for another great year in business! George Bailey was the richest guy in town in the movie classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” That is truly the way I feel. No words can be penned that can ever thank our dear friends and customers enough for the loyalty, kindness, support and love that is shown to us every day, but especially at this special time of year. The cookies, candy, meals, Christmas cards, visits and phone calls mean so much to me and our staff. Just when I think Christmas couldn’t get any better, you give us more love than ever. God bless you all! As our staff enjoys a few days off to celebrate the birth of Jesus, Miss Kim and I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. What a wonderful time of year! Usually at Thanksgiving and Christmas I will share a holiday memory or story with you. Thanksgiving I shared a story about my mother’s famous pies she always made at Thanksgiving. Now let me tell you about her coconut cake at Christmas time. At our three bedroom brick home on Mockingbird Lane in Dickson, the garage was one step down from the kitchen. I can remember my dad sitting on the step, in the garage, preparing the coconut ingredients for Mamma’s cake. He had a grocery sack full of coconuts. He would take a hammer and a nail and poke a hole in the eyes of the coconuts and drain out the coconut milk. He would then hammer the coconuts open and harvest the coconut meat from the shell, grading the coconut to give my Mother the freshest ingredients possible. (Man that must have taken half a day!) Then my mother would work her magic. When finished she would store the cakes in our unheated garage on top of the chest deep freezer. I can remember that first bite just like it was yesterday. That cold coconut cake was just about the best thing we could have to eat. So you can see, when I think of coconut cake, it stirs precious Christmas memories from my childhood. So as you spend time with your family and friends this holiday season, you too will be making sweet holiday memories for your children and grandchildren that will remain in their hearts forever! Merry Christmas and God bless! Steve
