Andrews-Dillingham Properties

Our ties with Dallas are historic and perhaps unique. The enterprise was founded well over a hundred years ago by Adolphus Rutherford Andrews. A Virginian, he fought through the Civil War with the Second Virginia Cavalry, surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse as a Major, and found himself with nothing left but his sword and his horse.

He sold the horse, bought a railroad ticket to Texas, and eventually came to Dallas in 1885. Dallas then was a little frontier settlement with no railroad and two blocks of board sidewalks as its hub. Andrews went to work, and, when he was able, started buying property. One of his first acquisitions was the corner lot at Main and Akard, which is now part of the Adolphus Hotel, named not for him but for Adolphus Busch. So that is how the Properties got its start.

Today the Properties are managed by Gordon Andrews and Gaylord Dillingham, the great grandsons of its founder. Throughout, our focus for the Properties has been on commercial property, primarily office buildings in the Dallas area. We have grown steadily, but our goal has always been to be the best at what we do, not the biggest. Accordingly, we have tried to find well located properties and then improve them with outstanding management. We believe that the portfolio of properties now owned by Andrews-Dillingham meet our criteria very well, and we look forward to continuing to play a significant role in the development of the Dallas Metro Complex.
