Tumblehome Boatshop is focused on the high-end restoration and new construction of historic and classic wooden boats.
Located in the Southern Adirondacks along Route 28, across from the Hudson River, the boatshop offers convenient access from Lake George, Lake Champlain, and the many small lakes throughout the Adirondacks.
About Reuben Smith:
Reuben Smith grew up in a boatbuilding family, and has been working on wooden boats since 1981. He is known for his expert craftsmanship, an ability to work hand in hand with owners of the special boats we restore and build, a commitment to doing things right, as well as his overall immersion in all things wooden boats – from history and lore to wood characteristics, fastener features, and construction methods. Reuben Smith has conducted boatbuilding workshops and classes over more than 10 years. He founded Mass Bay Maritime Artisans, and has taught courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), for the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS), Hull Lifesaving Museum, and several other institutions. An excellent communicator, Reuben has an engaging style and enthusiasm for the craft that is contagious.
