On June 24th, a packed house of 700 fans attended the first Robert E. Ammel Jr. baseball game between White River Junction, VT American Legion Post 84 and Lebanon, NH American Legion Post 22 at the Maxfield Athletic Conference in Hartford. The game was played in memory of Ammel who died in a motor vehicle accident on Route 4 in W. Bridgewater last fall. The event raised over $17,500 to benefit the Robert E. Ammel Jr. Scholarship Fund. Casella and Irving Oil co-sponsored, each donating $5,000 towards the fund. Casella also donated a bronze plaque that will be installed in a memorial garden at the Athletic Complex. The game ended in a 4-4 tie.

Please help us in congratulating another one of our calendar contest winners. Kelly Wells of Casella presented Victoria, from Mary J. Tanner School in Granville, NY with her award. Her artwork was one of 13 pieces selected from among 640 submissions.

When we heard that the Maine Landscape and Nursery Association (MELNA) are volunteering their time, energy, and plant material to help landscape the Travis Mills Foundation retreat, we knew we had to help. The Travis Mills Foundation, a nonprofit organization, was formed to benefit and assist wounded and injured veterans and their families. The foundation is creating a fully accessible retreat for combat injured veterans and their families. We donated a load (tractor trailer) of Gro-Max for planting and mulching. Special thanks to Chris Bales, salesperson for Casella Organics, for being on site for the delivery. Find out more about the Travis Mills Foundation > http://bit.ly/2tkQSKb
