Did you guys know about our bike that was made by Paul Jr Designs? Here's the story: More than 50 law enforcement officers, family members, friends and supporters gathered at the Minnesota Peace Officers Memorial to honor two fallen officers and a fallen police K-9 killed in the line of duty in 1994. CrankyApe.com co-founder, Brian Livingston, grew up with St. Paul Police Officer Ronald Michael Ryan Jr. Officer Ryan, his partner Officer Timothy James Jones, and his police K-9 Laser were shot and killed in the line of duty when investigating a suspicious person on August 26th, 1994. Brian himself served in law enforcement in years past and always told people close to him that he would someday be able to give back and honor his friend Ron. His business partner and co-owner of CrankyApe.com, Jay Adams, agreed. When business was good, the CrankyApe duo remembered Officers Ryan, Jones and K-9 Laser and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, where the officers’ names, service and sacrifice will always be honored. CrankyApe.com commissioned a custom chopper from Paul Jr. Designs, who appears on the hit television show “American Chopper: Sr. vs. Jr.” In addition to the custom chopper, the owners asked Paul Jr. to customize a 2007 Harley-Davidson to be auctioned off on their site with the proceeds being donated to the Memorial Fund. John Shanks, Director of Development and Law Enforcement Relations at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., traveled to Minneapolis to receive the donation and meet with friends and family of the fallen officers. During the event, Brian Livingston and Jay Adams presented Shanks with a check for $27,077, which is 100% of the proceeds from the auction. Brian said, “I think about Officer Ryan and all he and his family lost; we are honored to be able to give something back in Ron’s name.” Shanks shared with the attendees that the National Law Enforcement Museum is currently under construction in Washington, D.C., and the donation will help tell the stories of Officers Ryan and Jones, K-9 Laser and the 19,298 men and women featured on the Memorial walls who have given the ultimate sacrifice. CrankyApe.com plans on working with the Memorial Fund to find other ways they can help support efforts to honor the service and sacrifice of fallen officers. After the event, CrankyApe.com decided to increase their donation to $30,000 and fund three theater seats that will be in the National Law Enforcement Museum. Each seat will bear the name of Officers Ryan and Jones, and for the first time a Police K-9 will have his name honored in the Museum. It was unveiled on March 11th at Daytona Bike Week 2011 in Florida! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kOU9oxF0EQ See it here: https://www.google.com/search?q=crankyape+bike&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS781US781&oq=crankyape++bike+&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2j0l2.11424j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
