Council, the practice of listening and speaking from the heart, is at the core of all our offerings.
Inspired by the timeless wisdom of multiple world traditions and cultures, The Ojai Foundation is bringing practices of connection and wholeness to our contemporary world.
Fostered at the Land Sanctuary in Ojai, the practice of Council is changing communities around the world -- from social justice non-profits and public schools in Southern California, to prison yards in Central California, to Israeli and Palestinian groups in the Middle East.
Our work falls under three main program areas:
The Land Sanctuary: Our 40-acre sanctuary in Ojai continues to inspire, transform and nurture all who visit, hosting over 1,200 students each year for our rites of passage and ropes-course programs along with hundreds of adults.
Council in Schools (CIS): The Ojai Foundation's Council in Schools initiative serves over 10,000 students throughout greater Los Angeles in traditional and charter public schools, as well as secular and parochial private schools. (Read more about CIS here)
Center for Council (fomerly Center for Council Practice): Center for Council is our outreach arm, bringing our cutting edge work to an ever-widening and diverse audience around the world, providing Council trainings and programs in a diversity of settings including businesses, prisons, hospitals, social service agencies, and more.
The Ojai Foundation operates as a 501(c)3 with a lean professional staff of administrators and facilitators, a broad base of volunteers, and a dedicated Board of Directors.
