The VooDUDES are all about big fun. That fun echoes across 22+ years of playing festivals, concerts, clubs, etc. in 14 US States, as well as Canada, Switzerland, and Greece. The band's sound comes from their love of American Roots music from the Gulf Coast. Blues, Rock, Country, Zydeco and R&B grooves are guaranteed to make hands clap and feet stomp. And it goes great with spicy food, and, all kinds of beverages.
The VooDUDES have produced 6 CDs, including the bands original music: Take Cover, Let ‘Em Roll, and Block Party (co-produced by Patti Smith bassist Tony Shanahan). That CD garnered the band a Gannett Makin’Waves Music Award.
The VooDUDES compositions have appeared on such compilations as: Dr. Demento’s Basement Tapes #6; Dance Songs of New Orleans & Louisiana, NY Blues, Songs from Food & Music Fest; Fresh Local Produce; Jersey Jams; Jersey Jazz & Blues Foundation Presents, and Live At AJ’s. The VooDUDES earlier CDs are I Been VooDUDE, Wake the Dead, and Night of the Living DUDES.
The VooDUDES have performed as featured opener for these national acts: Levon Helm, Dr. John, Mavis Staples, Branford Marsalis, Anders Osborne, Roomful Of Blues, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Johnny Adams, Jeffery Broussard, Buckwheat Zydeco, CJ Chenier, Commander Cody, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, John Eddie, Holmes Brothers, The Iguanas, Bill Kirchen & Too Much Fun, Rosie Ledet, The Red Elvises, Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr, Wayne Toups & ZydeCajun, the US Navy Jazzband, and Nathan Williams & The Zydeco Cha-Chas.
