GBYO’s programs offer sequential and progressively challenging ensembles to develop a child’s music education. At least three times per season, they perform in a professional concert venue. Dedicated, accomplished conductors bring out the best in our young musicians. GBYO strives for diversity and inclusivity in a social environment that is both fun and musically challenging. • Students audition for placement. Musical works for each ensemble are both level appropriate and challenging for continued development and growth. • In addition to studying and performing established masterworks, our students also premiere new music. GBYO regularly commissions new music, giving students the opportunity to learn contemporary pieces and work with the composer of the new music. • GBYO includes guest conductors and professional soloists in some of its concert performances; other concerts are collaborative productions with other student and professional musical organizations. • A Concerto Competition showcasing our most talented students is held annually. Winners perform as soloists in our year-end concert. • In addition to full orchestras, students may audition for one of the two GBYO Jazz Ensembles or Chamber Orchestra.
