Service First Federal Credit Union was originally founded as Morrell Employees Federal Credit Union in 1934. Since then, we have grown to include 5 locations. We have three locations in Sioux Falls, SD, one in Tea, SD, and one in Salem, SD.
Credit unions are organized differently than traditional banks. We are a not-for-profit organization and our customers are all member/owners. We do not have shareholders, all of our profits are returned to our members in the form of lower interest rates on loans, and higher percentage yields on savings. We make our decisions on what is best for our members and have a board of unpaid volunteers that assist in the decision making of the organization.
Since we are structured differently than banks, we do have a number of advantages. No, our website and advertising may not be as "polished" as those big boys, but we make up for it by offering better rates and have the ability to approve you on the spot for loans and other services.
If you live, work, attend school, or worship in Minnehaha, McCook, or Lincoln county, you are eligible for membership at Service First. We are here to strengthen our communities and enrich the lives of our members!
