Our counseling department is comprised of 1) professional therapists who hold Master’s Degrees in Counseling or Psychology and who are licensed in the State of Michigan; 2) a pastoral counselor who holds a PhD and has years of experience as a pastor; and 3) a life coach who is a licensed, Master’s level counselor. Individual, marital, and family counseling is available for a variety of issues and we invite you to look at our website for the therapists’ individual specializations and populations served.
While all of our counselors are committed Bible believing Christians, clients of all faith (or non-faith) backgrounds are welcome to receive counseling services at CFS. Clients’ beliefs are respected, and spiritual issues are discussed as much or as little as individual clients wish. Counseling fees are on a sliding scale based on household income. Goals and the course of treatment are set by clients and therapists together.
UNPLANNED PREGNANCY AND ADOPTION SERVICES
Our unplanned pregnancy department is offers unlimited support to women and their families who find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy. We support and encourage all fathers to be involved in seeking support through an unplanned pregnancy as well! The staff then provides free and unbiased counseling, help obtaining resources in the client's area, and adoption planning if requested. Should a woman decide to place her child for adoption, all adoption fees are paid on her behalf by the adoptive family and through donations made to Christian Family Services. Children who are placed for adoption through Christian Family Services' families-in-waiting will grow up in Christian families who are actively involved in Bible believing churches and who are able to give testimony of living and active Christian life. We believe that over the years this has been an extremely unique form of evangelism whereby children are placed into homes where they can experience the love of Jesus Christ. For those families wishing to adopt internationally (we are in the process of becoming Hague approved), interstate, or to work with attorneys, our agency can provide the state required pre-placement assessment (home study) and supervision necessary.
