The Church of Our Lady of Kazan is one of the most beautiful representations of Russian Orthodox Christian art and architecture in the region. One young visitor to our parish stood in awe and said, ‘It’s like being in a jewel box’. Such beauty dedicated to God, draws souls toward Heaven.
Our church was established by Russian Émigrés in 1949 and is consecrated in the name of Our Lady of Kazan, a holy icon of the Virgin Mary that was discovered in the town of Kazan, Russian, in the 16th century. Through this icon, God’s grace has been shown through many miracles at important periods in the history of Holy Russia.
Our church is also dedicated as a memorial to the Royal Martyrs of Russia; Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexander and their children, Grand Prince Alexi, the Grand Duchesses Olga Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia. Much miss-understood in the non-Orthodox and secular West, the Royal Martyrs are lifted up by the Church as examples of humility and patient suffering. They are much revered by Orthodox Christians. It is through the prayers of the Martyrs the Church of Christ grows and is strengthened.
Our parish celebrated two parish feast days each year. Our Lady of Kazan on November 4th and the Royal Martyrs on July 17th.
