St Cuthbert's Episcopal Church

St Cuthbert's Episcopal Church is a diverse congregation in East Oakland between Mills College and the Oakland Zoo, off Rt. 580 at the Keller Ave exit.

As followers of Jesus Christ, whose example inspires us to build creative lives based on Love and Inclusion, we are a community of faith in a diverse and urban parish, open to all ethnic groups, sexual orientations, families, children and teens.

Loving, joyful, inclusive and creative, we seek to embody the message of St. John: "God is Love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them."

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome to join us in worship, fellowship, and service.

Sunday services are at 8 and 10

8 - Contemplative Mass
Our 8:00 Sunday service includes body work/stretching, spoken prayers, a reading from the Gospels, chanting, and a 20-minute sit (for whatever meditation or silent prayer practice you choose), followed by Eucharist. (There is no sermon and no creeds are recited.)

10 – Holy Eucharist
Our 10:00 Sunday service is a family service with scripture readings, prayers, music, a sermon, and Holy Communion. (There is no child care but there is a glassed in viewing playroom adjacent to the church sanctuary for children to play in if needed.) The service comes from the Book of Common Prayer and from other supplemental liturgical resources.
