The Life Center of Davidson County

The Life Center opened its doors in July of 1980. The organization’s first home was at the old Lexington Hospital. The center’s name originated from the abbreviation “ ”, which stood for “Lexington Interests For the Elderly”. In 1986, a steering committee was formed, and in the late 1980’s, The Life Center became incorporated and received its 501(c)3 non-profit status. Bylaws were drafted for the organization in July of 1987.

In the late 1980s, The Life Center of Davidson County, Inc. moved from the hospital to 8 Franklin Street in Lexington. In 1997, the Board decided to purchase the PrintCraft building at 601 West Center Street in Lexington. In 2002, The Life Center of Davidson County, Inc. moved into its current location at 601 West Center Street, Lexington. The building has over 9000 square feet and includes a commercial kitchen, screened-in porch, fitness room, nursing suite with a treatment room, an Alzheimer’s room, 13 bathrooms, walk-in shower, beauty salon and barber area, and several other specialized areas. Many individuals and corporations in the community donated to the capital campaign with noted help from the Etta and Henry Link family for whom the building is named in honor of.

Currently, The Life Center of Davidson County, Inc. is being updated with new paint and furnishing thanks to a generous donor. The Strategic Planning Committee is working on a Thomasville Project. Please stay tuned for more information.
