ABOUT OUR DOCTORS. . .
Each of our physicians is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. They are deeply committed to a high quality care that is prompt, individualized and compassionate.

Dr. Hedy Etzael Zaghi is a 1984 Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of California, Berkley. Dr. Zaghi attended Yale University School of Medicine in Connecticut receiving his medical degree in 1988. Dr. Zaghi performed his internship and residency at Stanford University Hospital in California. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Washington where he was the recipient of the American Heart Association research award. Dr. Zaghi joined Florida Cardiology Group in 1994.

Dr. B. Benjamin Saketkhou graduated Summa Cum Laude as the class Valedictorian from University of Maryland in 1985 where he was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Saketkhou received his medical degree from George Washington University in 1989. He performed his internship and residency at Cornell Hospitals (North Shore University Hospital, Long Island, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, , ) , from 1989 to 1992. Dr. Saketkhou served as the Assistant to the Chief Resident at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 1992. He completed a Nuclear Cardiology Fellowship during the 1992 – 1993 academic year at Columbia University in New York, New York. Dr. Saketkhou completed his Cardiovascular Fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and joined Florida Cardiology Group in 1996.

Dr. Steven Borzak graduated in 1980 from Oberlin College in Ohio. He received his medical degree at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 1984 where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. From 1984 to 1987, Dr. Borzak performed his internship and residency at the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, where he was the Chief Resident from 1987-1988. He completed a Cardiology Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA from 1988 to 1991.
Before joining Florida Cardiology Group in 2001, Dr. Borzak was Associate Division Head of Cardiology at Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan, where he directed the Coronary Care Unit, conducted dozens of research studies and contributed extensively to cardiovascular literature. Dr. Borzak has received numerous teaching awards during his tenure, and he is currently a faculty member at Nova Southeastern College of Medicine, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Dr. Rizwan Karatela graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan in 1984. Dr. Karatela completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in 1992. From 1993 to 1995, Dr. Karatela was a Cardiology Research fellow at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He completed a clinical Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York in 1995-1998. Dr. Karatela joined Florida Cardiology Group in 2002.

INSURANCE
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, PPOs and a limited number of HMOs. Please check with your insurance to verify our participation prior to your appointment. Health Care District and HMO patients, please be advised that it is the patient’s responsibility to obtain any necessary referrals or authorization for all visits prior to your appointment. Your insurance company prevents us from rendering care without proper authorization.

PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING YOUR INSURANCE CARD ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT FOR VERIFICATION PURPOSES.
STATEMENTS
Our office generates statements monthly. Please be aware that these statements are sent for individual dates of service for all insurances that have paid or denied. If you have any questions regarding your balance, please contact your insurance carrier or our billing office.

FINANCIAL POLICY
Florida Cardiology Group, accepts Medicare assignment of benefits. Medicare will pay 80% of allowable charges after your annual $ deductible is met. As a courtesy, we will submit the remaining 20% to your secondary insurance for payment. However, if you do not carry a secondary insurance, the remaining 20% from Medicare is your responsibility and is due at the time of your visit.
Please check with your insurance to verify our participation. Fee information will be provided upon request. For your convenience, we accept cash and personal checks. We also accept Visa or Master Card for charges over $

PRECRIPTIONS AND RENEWALS
Most prescriptions may be refilled by contacting your pharmacist. However, should the need arise for renewal of your prescription; your pharmacist will contact us for refill authorization.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to provide equally special care to each of our patients, and as a courtesy to our doctors and staff, we ask that you call our office at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or postpone your appointment.
A minimum period of 24 hours is required for cancellation of nuclear stress tests. Patients who fail to comply with this requirement will be held responsible for costs associated with procurement of the radio-isotope.

RESEARCH
We are participating members of Florida Cardiovascular Research, , a cardiovascular clinical research consortium based at JFK Medical Center. We are actively participating in many clinical trials. We offer participation in the research program to qualified patients who are interested in volunteering for enrollment.
