In May of 1981, The Learning House was started by Deborah and Pope Mulherin, Kay and Jeff Mulherin, and Wanda and Don Cochran at 929 North Highland Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee. The original location was a 900 sq. ft. house, thus the name, The Learning House. Five years later, the store moved to a 3500 sq. ft. location at 100 Ridgecrest Road and then moved to its present 14,000 sq. ft. location six years after that. There are currently four Learning House locations to serve the West Tennessee area in Jackson, Union City, Dyersburg, and Memphis.
