It's time to talk about drugs, kids. Now, the current push is to get kids to not take drugs, but from where I am sitting, there are folks who need to take them. For instance, I have many clients who for one reason or another either: 1) Are afraid of doctors (called Iatrophobiain case you're wondering) 2) Are afraid of needles (Trypanophobia) 3) Are afraid of spiders (sorry - went on a tangent). (Arachnophobia - but you knew that one). Here's what I know: 1) If you're sick, go to the doctor - that's what you have insurance for. a. Added bonus: the waiting rooms have that old copy of Field 'n Stream that you forgot to read...last summer. 2) If you're afraid of needles, you probably shouldn't go outside either. a. You might get bit by a black widow spider and that hurts WAY worse. Then you'll have to go to the urgent care, and get a shot anyway. In all reality, folks have insurance but won't go to the doctor - or know that they have a prescription - but won't get it filled. Unfortunately, there can be complications from NOT taking the medication than just taking it in the first place. Don't have a doctor or pharmacy? Ask your family and friends who they trust for their care (because they do go to the doctor). That's what THEY are here for. Don't have insurance? That's what WE are here for! Give us a call and we promise not to talk about how many spiders are ingested while you sleep! Until next month, "Silly people, serious about insurance." Grace Who has Ophidiophobia! You'll have to look that one up!

So you're confused about the changes to the health care law? I get that question (or comment) a lot. I mean, a lot. In fact, when I say 'a lot' it could be a parking lot worth of questions. Truth is, no one knows how the changes, or non-changes will unfold. It took 14 months to get the ACA to pass. In perspective, here's some scenarios on 14 months: A 14 month old toddler can utter many words beyond "Mama" and "Dada" - although when you listen to Congress sometimes they sounds like baby babble! A 14 month old in Utah learned to snowboard (try chasing THAT one down to change a diaper). For 14 months, a Man was lost at sea and survived. (See? There's hope for health care to survive as well) - although the man might have wanted to disappear. We can only anticipate that it will take at least 14 months for any changes to happen. What I can tell you for sure is that nothing has changed yet - as far as the law goes. The individual mandate and employer mandate are still alive and well (maybe not 'well' - but they're still intact). As changes happen, rest assured that the folks at ACS Insurance will keep you updated. Until next month, "Silly people, serious about insurance." Grace Who also has changed - my last name! Got married 8/26/17!!

I have always considered myself a fairly good test taker. I love puzzles and crosswords and always up for a challenge. However, one test that I seem to fail over and over is the "I am not a robot" test on websites. Maybe because I tend to overthink things. On a recent "robot test" I had to mark the squares which showed a street sign. I marked almost all of the squares because the pole that holds the sign is also the street sign. Which by the way was wrong. (I'm sure that the Planning Department thinks the poles are part of signs as well). Since I failed that one, I then get another test that shows cars - and I am to mark the cars in the squares. Well, if part of the antennae is in another square...you guessed it...I mark it. While I can appreciate the need for security, it can be frustrating to work with technology. You know who are NOT robots? The folks at ACS Insurance that's who. When you call our offices, we won't ask you to find the cheese in the maze or even make you one of Pavlov's dogs. What we will do is give you superior customer service and attention! We are also excited to announce a new member of our team: Steve Perwein! If the last name is familiar - yes - it is a chip off the old block. Andy's son came to work with us and just got his health and life license. Woohoo! Another non-robot! (Did you also realize that I got to call Andy 'old'?) The moral of this story is that when you are looking for insurance - check us out first! That way, you know you are dealing with a real person and not just a number, or a robot on a website. Until next month, "Silly people, serious about insurance." Grace Who realizes that I am now outnumbered in the office, but am the same age as Andy.
