How We Got Breyer Animal Creations® began as the Breyer Molding Company in Chicago, Illinois, a manufacturer of custom-molded plastic products. In 1950, the company was asked to create a plastic horse to decorate a mantel clock for Woolworth. Although only 2,000 horses were manufactured, that one order changed the company’s direction forever. As toy collectors and horse lovers learned of the horse’s remarkable authenticity, demand for the horse alone increased. In response, Breyer began to produce and market the standing horse model, #57 – Western Horse (shown above). In time, the creation and manufacturing of authentic and realistic plastic model animals – especially horses - became our business and our passion!
Breyer makes model horses and accessories for play, collecting and customizing in a wide variety of materials for horse and animal lovers of all ages. We create approximately 300 unique horses, animals and accessories each year.
Breyer is a division of Reeves International, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of fine toys and collectibles based in Pequannock, New Jersey, USA.
Breyer is also distributed in the United Kingdom, Europe and in Australia and New Zealand.
