We serve the urban community of greater Boston as a dynamic center for spiritual discovery and renewal. We explore Christian tradition and foster inquiry through the celebration of liturgy, music, and the arts. We strive for justice and peace. Emmanuel Church welcomes all people without exception to our Eucharistic table. We honor individuals of every age, gender, ethnic heritage, sexual orientation, and religious background, and we respect the dignity of every living being.

Not Your Average Bible Study
Bible Study will run on Tuesdays during October. We gather from 7:30 - 8:30 AM in the Emmanuel Room to talk about the readings for the upcoming Sunday. Pam leads the conversations, which are lively and informative. All are welcome to join us any Tuesday morning.

Knitting Circle
This group meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 2:30 PM at Penny Lane's house in Cambridge. Crocheters, knitters,
Needlepoint workers, menders, and anyone else interested in good company are welcome for conversation and a cup of tea. Please contact Penny if you're interested.

Spirituality & the Arts: Emmanuel Center's forum series
As part of the programs of the newly established Emmanuel Center, the interfaith partnership between Boston Jewish Spirit and Emmanuel Church, our two congregations will co-sponsor a series of "talk back" discussion forums for this season's productions of Boston's famed Speakeasy Stage Company. These in-theater events follow the second Sunday afternoon performances of each play, and will feature commentary by the Rev. Pamela Werntz and Rabbi Howard Berman, and the cast and directors of the performance. The discussions will focus on spiritual, ethical and social issues raised by the plots and themes of each of these varied productions.

The Speakeasy Stage 2009-2010 has started and the first production, The Savannah Disputation looks perfect for a "Spirituality and the Arts" series. The first "talk back" session will be this Sunday, October 4 after the 3:00 PM production. All performances are at the Calderwood Pavilion of the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street in the South End.
