Our story began in 1954 in Charlottesville, VA when a group of 40 University of Virginia Hospital administrators and staff held their first meeting to organize what would become the University of Virginia Community Credit Union. They believed that by pooling their resources, each member of the credit union could have the chance at a better future.
Over 60 years later we are a thriving, community-driven, innovative financial institution with over 70,000 members: the largest, locally-owned financial institution headquartered in our community. Approximately one in five adults in our service area belongs to our credit union. We have twelve full-service locations along with three student-run branches in local schools and assets totaling $745 million. We also provide financial education annually to over 5,000 students of all ages. These figures are impressive, yet humbling. We understand that we have attained this level of success because of the trust members have placed in the UVA Community Credit Union. And we earn that trust every day.
