The snow keeps coming, especially in the high country. The elk have been coming down to the lower meadows to graze, and I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of them. I think animals in general are having a harder time foraging this year, and look for higher flows this year (if we keep getting more snow)!

Ice fishing at Hayden Meadows Pond...Brrrrr! But what's up with the rain today? It was below zero three days ago and a blizzard, now it is in the 40's and raining!

The #ArkansasRiver is being artistic and creating frozen droplets! As the water ebbs and flows, it re-wets the droplets and freezes another layer onto the solid ice sculpture. Just beautiful!

Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area - Colorado Parks and Wildlife added an event.
A short fun hike will be conducted in the scenic northern Fourmile Recreation Area in the area of the Old Midland Railroad Grade. The loop will be designed so that hiking will be done on the existing roads, trails, and a major wash in the area – NO cross-country foot travel will be done in the snow. The route will be adjusted to the snow conditions on the day of the event. We will have fantastic views of the snowy Upper Arkansas Valley and the Sawatch Mountain Range as well as close-up granitic boulder formations of the Arkansas Hills. #FIRSTDAYHIKECO
