Sawyer Village is owned and operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. It consists of 275 rental units, 2hangars, bus garage, and 2 commercial buildings. The Tribe acquired the property in October 1995 and began opening units for rent to the public later that month.
Since opening, several upgrades have been made in the rentals, including electrical, flooring, siding, windows, exterior painting, roofs and appliances.
The hangars and bus garage are used for recreational vehicle storage year round.
