ABGA Graduated Judges Protocol (Appendix to Rule 1601) 1) Purpose: To identify Level I, Level II and Level III ABGA Certified Judges based on recommendation from ABGA Judge Educators, ABGA Judge Committee, and ABGA Board of Directors. a) Level I Judge shall refer to senior/seasoned judges b) Level II and III Judge shall refer to new/probationary judges c) All judges on the current ABGA Certified Judges list shall be considered Level I d) Any judges currently noted as "apprentice" shall have one year from the effective date to complete program as originally set forth. 2) At the conclusion of the ABGA Judge Certification Course, successful recommended Level II Judge candidates will be placed on the ABGA Certified Judges List as a Level II Judge if approved by the ABGA Board of Directors. The following provisions will apply to Level II Judges: a) Will be limited to judging shows of no more than 225 head. (Based on previous year's data) b) Will successfully complete a minimum of five (5) shows prior to eligibility for Level I consideration. c) Upon completion of five shows, the ABGA Judges Committee will bring Level II Judges name/qualifications before the Board of Directors with recommendation to advance to Level I Judge status, or continued participation as a Level II judge, additional action, or exclusion. 3) If, at the conclusion of the ABGA Judge Certification Course, a candidate(s) is not recommended for Level II, but has been recognized as exemplary throughout the non-testing portion of the course, each attending Judge Educator has the ability to bring that/those candidate(s) name forward to the rest of the Judges Panel for consideration/acceptance as a Level III Judge if approved by the ABGA Board of Directors. a) There will be no mandate for any additional candidates to be considered. b) Each Judge Educator may recommend up to two (2) candidates. c) There must be a consensus of the entire panel that an individual is worthy and has merit. d) This opportunity, should it occur, shall be optional for the candidate to accept and participate. Should an individual meet consensus approval and opt to participate as a Level III Judge, the following provisions will apply: a) Will be limited to judging shows of no more than 110 head. (Based on previous year's data) b) Will successfully complete a minimum of five (5) shows prior to eligibility for Level II consideration. c) Upon completion of five (5) shows, the ABGA Judges Committee will bring Level III Judges name/qualifications before the Board of Directors with recommendation to advance to Level II Judge status, additional action, or exclusion. d) ABGA reserves the right to rescind Level III credentials at any time during the qualifying process. Effective Date 4/5/2016 for all new Level II and Level III judge candidates recognized by the ABGA Board of Directors.
