We are a 10-member community based robotics team. Our team consists of high school and middle school students who want to compete at the local and state level for the 2017-2018 FTC robotics competition season, organized by the FIRST organization.
FIRST is an acronym for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” and is recognized as the leading, not-for-profit STEM engagement program for kids worldwide. The international organization has developed robotics competitions for high school and middle school students who want to build a robot to the competition specifications (every robotics season has different specifics for robot design and competition) to compete with other robots in a sport - like event. The goal of the FIRST program is to provide students with the experience of applying science, engineering, robotics and computer science concepts to solve challenging problems. This program enables students to see engineers and scientists as role models in the same way professional athletes are seen.
