• Ranked highest in customer satisfaction among midsize electric utilities in the midwest.
• Emerson Power & Water Solutions presented IPL with the Innovation Award of Excellence for its Petersburg unit 1 and unit 4 controls replacement project.
• The Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters, recognized IPL as a Tree Line USA Utility for its demonstrated practices that protect and enhance America's urban forests. The Tree Line USA program promotes the dual goals of safe, reliable electric service and abundant, healthy trees across utility service areas.
• The Mayor of Indianapolis recognized IPL for its ongoing support of parks in Indianapolis through its 10th year of sponsoring the IPL Mayors Lunch for Parks.
• The Mayor of Indianapolis also recognized the nearly 400 IPL people for the impact they had on Garfield Park, one of the City’s most popular parks.
• IPL was designated as a member of the Green Business Initiative by the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.
• IPL won the EEI Emergency Assistance award for 2011 (announced in 2012). One of eleven EEI companies that were selected for this specific award and one of four companies identified as “all year efforts”.
• IPL was nominated for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the government to employers for their support of their employees who serve in the National Guard or Reserves. The nomination was made by Brian Hayes, a scrubber operator at Harding Street Station and a National Guard sergeant who has served tours in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Panama and Bosnia.
• IPL and its people rank ninth of the top 10 companies in the United Way of Central Indiana campaign. Petersburg people retained their top ranking in Pike County.
• The Super Bowl Host Committee and the Mayor recognized IPL and its people for their outstanding work in preparation for the Super Bowl. It was a great success for the City of Indianapolis. Local and national media gave a tremendous amount of medial exposure of our building and our people.
• E Source, in partnership with The Nielsen Company, rated IPL 6th out of 84 investor-owned and public utilities from across the in its national Utility Brand Strength Study.
• Nature Conservancy Award for IPL sponsorship.
• 2012 Project of the Year Award from Indiana Urban Forest Council for fall of 2011 Trees for Tomorrow event at Martin Park. IPL volunteers planted 80 trees.
• All Hands on Deck Award from Indy Parks for IPL Day in the Parks on June 1. Nearly 400 volunteers helped clean up and refurbish Garfield Park and cleared invasive species along Pleasant Run Trail Greenway.
• 2012 Emergency Assistance Award by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) assistance provided to utilities in New York, New Jersey and West Virginia in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
